TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. The Promoter is Deakin University ABN 56 721 584 203 of 1 Gheringhap Street, Geelong, Victoria, 3220.
  2. Approval numbers: ACT TP 21/01037, SA TP 21/942.
  3. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in this promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
  4. Entry is only open to Australian residents aged 13 years or over. Entrants under the age of 18 must obtain parent or guardian consent before entering this Promotion.
  5. Employees (and their immediate families) of the Promoter and agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible to enter.
  6. The promotion commences at 9.00am AEST on 6 July 2021 and ends at 2.00pm AEST on 22 August 2021.
  7. To enter the promotion, entrants will be required to:

The Bigger PictureBy attending your first Student Life session and engaging for a minimum of 15 minutes. The NotetakerBy adding your first PDF to your 'backpack' account. This will be only rewarded once and if a PDF is removed from backpack, badge will remain and no badge will be awarded on the next addition of a PDF. 1 per eligible entrant
The Broad HorizonsBy attending your first 3 x Information sessions. User must engage in each session for at least 15mins. Campus RoverBy clicking on the join a campus tour component on the Homepage or any of the individual campus pages.1 per eligible entrant
  1. (c) Each badge will automatically be added to the participants’ account, based on their activity across virtual open day– up to a total of twenty-one entries.
  1. Visitors to Deakin’s Virtual Open Day can create a profile and engage in the event without participating in this competition.
  2. Only one prize will be awarded to each entrant.

  1. There will be one major prize winner and 183 runner-up prize winners who will receive the prizes detailed in section 11. Prizes will be awarded in order of the winner draws.
  2. Every eligible entrant will automatically receive a 20% Deakin merchandise discount voucher upon achieving their first badge/entry.

  1. The total maximum prize pool value is $7,480.00.
  2. Winners will be determined at 18/200 Brighton Street, Richmond Victoria 3121 on Monday 30 August 2021 at 10:00am AEST. Winners will be randomly selected from valid entries using www.randomdraws.com.au.
  3. Winners will be notified by phone and email within 2 business days of the draw date. The name of the major prize winner will be announced on Deakin’s website, https://www.deakin.edu.au/openday/winners within 5 days of the draw.
  4. Winners must claim their prize within 60 days of notification, failing which they will forfeit that prize and an unclaimed prize draw will take place at 17 November 2020 at the same time and place as the original draws, subject to any directions from a regulatory authority. Winners, if any, will be notified via the phone and email address supplied on their entry form. The name of the redrawn major prize winner (if any) will be announced on Deakin’s website, https://www.deakin.edu.au/openday/winners within 5 days of the draw.
  5. Any prize winner under the age of 18 must have their parent or guardian accept the prize on their behalf.
  6. Gift card prizes will be valid for 3 years from the draw date.
  7. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and entrants (including an entrant’s identity, age and place of residence) and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or who tampers with the entry process. Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter's discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
  8. Incomplete, indecipherable or illegible entries will be deemed invalid.
  9. If there is a dispute as to the identity of an entrant, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine the identity of the entrant.
  10. Subject to the unclaimed prize draw clause, if for any reason a winner does not take a Prize within 60 days of notification , then that winner’s Prize will be forfeited.
  11. If a Prize is unavailable, the Promoter, in its discretion, reserves the right to substitute the Prize with a prize to the equal value and/or specification, subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority.
  12. The Prize value in these Terms and Conditions are in Australian dollars and include Australian GST where applicable.
  13. The Prizes, or any unused portion of a prize, are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.
  14. Printing errors and other quality control matters will not be used as a reason for refusing winning entry.
  15. Entrants consent to the Promoter using their name, likeness, image and/or voice in the event they are a winner (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this promotion (including any outcome), and promoting any products manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter. All entries become the property of the Promoter.
  16. If this promotion is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, including but not limited to technical difficulties, unauthorised intervention or fraud, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law (a) to disqualify any entrant; or (b) subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority, to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the promotion, as appropriate.
  17. Any cost associated with accessing the promotional website is the entrant’s responsibility and is dependent on the internet service provider used.
  18. The use of any automated entry software or any other mechanical or electronic means that allows an entrant to automatically enter repeatedly is prohibited and will render all entries submitted by that entrant invalid.
  19. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act, as well as any other implied warranties under the ASIC Act or similar consumer protection laws in the States and Territories of Australia (“Non-Excludable Guarantees”). Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the promotion.
  20. Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) is not responsible for and excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control); (b) any theft, unauthorized access or third party interference; (c) any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter; (d) any variation in prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions; (e) any tax liability incurred by a winner or entrant; or (f) use/redemption/taking of a prize.
  21. The Promoter collects personal information ("PI") in order to conduct the promotion and may, for this purpose, disclose such PI to third parties, including but not limited to agents, contractors, service providers, prize suppliers and, as required, to Australian regulatory authorities. Deakin may additionally use PI for internal research and analysis and may contract entrants for this purpose. Entry is conditional on providing this PI.
  22. If you opt-in to receive communications from the Promoter, it will use PI to provide you with information about opportunities and activities at Deakin University.
  23. The Promoter manages personal information it holds, including requests by individuals for access to their personal information, in accordance with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic).You have a right to gain access to your personal information held by the University.
