Our Geelong Waterfront Campus is right on the seafront - in the heart of Geelong, about an hour from Melbourne. Originally built as wool stores in the 19th century, the buildings have been extensively renovated, creating a modern, impressive campus.

Also attend the Graduate Employment in the 21st century information session, to hear how a student just starting their degree should prepare for graduate employment and a career.

    Building D, John Hay Courtyard

    Get hands-on with pre-photographic technology that led to the invention of the camera. A large dark enclosure in which images from the outside world appear before your eyes. Subject to weather conditions.

  14. IDeEA Lab

    What does virtual history, robotics and video games have in common? They are all research projects underway at the IDeEA lab within the School of Architecture and Built Environment. Come along to the lab and play ‘Lowpoly’ our sustainable design game, check out the hybrid sunscreen prototype that tracks the sun and turns a building into a media screen, or immerse yourself in 1934 Rome in our virtual history project

Getting to Geelong Waterfront Campus

If you are coming from Melbourne allow about an hour by car. Need some help with directions? Campus Compass can get you there.

V/Line trains run every 70 minutes from Southern Cross railway station from 7.50 am. Once you arrive at Geelong railway station you can walk to the campus or take the free and accessible Deakin Open Day shuttle bus.

V/Line trains or coaches run from many regional centres, including Ballarat, Warrnambool and the Great Ocean Road.


  1. Why do I need to go to Open Day?

    Well, choosing a university can sometimes be tricky but Deakin Open Day gives you a glimpse into what it’s like to be a student. Plus, there’s heaps of fun stuff, free entertainment and great food between the information sessions.

  2. How do I get the most out of Open Day?

    Talk to us! Our staff and students are able to advise you on courses, how to apply, what extra entry requirements you might need. We'll also give you lowdown on university life while you roam around and get a feel for the campus.

  3. How do I find the right people to speak to?

    Don't worry, they're easy to find. The General Information Stand, and the Career and Course Information Centre, are your first stops. That’s where you’ll find all the information you need on courses, including postgraduate studies. If you need an Auslan interpreter this is also the place to ask.

  4. What questions should I ask?

    Think about what you’re interested in and if you want to study full time, part time, on campus or online. Then ask us how that translates into a course, what the entry requirements are or how it can lead to a career. If you need some help thinking about your options, then you can kickstart your course and career exploration with our new Explore App.

    Our new wayfinding app – which you can download now – will help you navigate through our campuses. And if you still get lost, don't worry! One of our friendly student ambassadors will point you in the right direction.

  8. How do I know what to go and see?

    Take a look at our extensive Open Day Planner and save the sessions that interest you to your personal Open Day Plan. This means you’ll have a plan for your day and won’t miss anything important. And if you need more help, we'll have all the answers at the Course and Career Information Centre.

  9. I'm thinking about changing my preferences and want to see what Deakin courses I can get into - what should I do?
